Job Title: Architectural / CAD Draftsman

Department: Design & Technical Operations

Reports To: Lead Architect / Principal Designer

Job Purpose

The Draftsman transforms conceptual designs, sketches, and specifications into detailed 2D technical working drawings, joinery details, and production-ready blueprints. This role bridges creative design vision and physical execution, ensuring structural accuracy, precise measurements, and adherence to manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Drafting & Working Drawings

• Produce 2D CAD drawings, including architectural floor plans, elevations, section views, reflected ceiling plans (RCP), and MEP coordination layouts.

• Develop millwork drawings and shop production details for custom wardrobes, cabinetry, and bespoke furniture pieces.

2. Design Collaboration & Revision

• Work alongside interior designers and architects to convert rough sketches into precise technical schematics.

• Update, revise, and maintain drawing packages based on site measurements, client modifications, or structural adjustments.

3. Site & Measurement Verification

• Conduct or review site measurements to verify physical dimensions against preliminary layouts.

• Ensure drawings incorporate exact wall conditions, electrical/plumbing points, and architectural tolerances.

4. Documentation & Standards Compliance

• Maintain structured CAD drawing libraries, layer standards, block libraries, and version history.

• Prepare material takeoff sheets and hardware specification schedules to support estimation and procurement teams.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Diploma or Degree in Architectural Drafting, Civil Engineering, Interior Design, or ITI CAD Certification.

  
  

• Experience: 3–5+ years of professional drafting experience in architectural, interior design, or custom furniture/joinery environments.

  
  

• Technical Skills:

  • Advanced mastery of AutoCAD 2D (AutoCAD 3D, Revit, or SketchUp knowledge is a strong plus).

  • In-depth understanding of joinery details, hardware fittings, material thicknesses (wood, metal, glass), and construction methods.

  • Strong spatial comprehension, scale reading, and drafting precision.
